Chart Drawing Tools

Barchart Trader contain a number of drawing tools to assist in the analysis of data. Each tool may have its own set of properties, accessible by right-clicking on the tool after it's been placed on the chart. Click on the individual tool for more information:

Add a Tool to a Chart

1. Right-click on the chart to display the context menu. Highlight Add Drawing, then click on the tool you wish to add.
   
   OR
   
   Click the Draw drop-down list at the top of the chart, and select the desired tool.
2. Place the drawing / tool on the chart. (See individual tools for specific directions. For tools such as trend lines, place your cursor where you wish the line to start, left-click and drag over the chart, releasing your mouse where the line should end.

Reposition a Tool on a Chart

1. Click anywhere on the tool. 
   Note: "Handles" will appear at the ends / borders of the tool.
   
2. While holding the left mouse button, drag either one of the "handles", or drag the entire tool to the new position, then drop it.

Change the Tool Color

1. Right-click on the tool, and highlight Color from the context menu
2. Select a new color by clicking on it.

Copy and Paste a Tool

Tools can be copied and pasted to the same chart, or to a different chart (even one in a different workspace).

1. Right-click on the tool, and select Copy from the context menu
2. Right-click anywhere on the chart (where you want to paste the tool) and select Paste from the context menu.

Delete a Tool from a Chart

1. Click anywhere on the tool. 
   Note: "Handles" will appear at the ends / borders of the tool.
   
2. Press the Delete key on your keyboard.

   Right-click to display the tool's menu, and select Delete.
